New Delhi. The Indian Postal Department (India Post) has started the facility to open and close National Savings Certificate (NSC) and Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) accounts online. After the introduction of this facility, now any person can apply for them sitting at home and can close their account. With this initiative of the department, now any candidate can apply online sitting at home. For these works, he will not even have to make frequent rounds of the post office.
This facility can be availed by only post bank account holders who use internet banking. Account holders who are using DOP Internet Banking operated by the Department of Posts can open NSC and KVP accounts sitting at home.
Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP)
Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) is a small savings scheme of the Indian Postal Department. The amount deposited under this scheme matures after nine years and five months from the date of account opening. Beneficiaries opening accounts under this savings scheme are going to get interest at a compounded rate of 6.9 percent.
National Saving Certificate (NSC)
National Saving Certificate (NSC) are savings certificates available through small savings schemes of the Indian Postal Department. The amount deposited in NSC matures after five years from the date of deposit. At present, interest is being given on NSC at the rate of 6.8 percent.
How to open NSC and KVP account
First of all login with the help of DOP Internet Banking key
Then go to Service Requests of General Services option and click for New Requests
Now the option of NSC and KVP account will appear in front of you. Click on the one you want to open
You can open an NSC account with a minimum of Rs 1000.
Select Debit Account linked PO Saving Account
By accepting the terms and conditions click on the Click Here option
Submit the online application now
Now fill in the transaction password and submit
Check the status of your NSC account by logging in again with the help of the details found at the end.
Close online account like this
- First of all login with the help of DOP Internet Bank
- Then go to Service Requests of General Services option and click for New Requests
- Select NSC account holder closure of NSC Account and KVP account holder closure of KVP Account option
- Select the option to close NSC and KVP accounts and select the option to credit the amount deposited in the respective account to the linked Post Office Savings Account
- Finally submit your request with the help of transaction password.
