As the weather is expected to remain dry for next ten days, the minimum temperature plummeted across the Valley while Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded coldest night of the season at minus 0.8 degree Celsius as the mercury settled below freezing point for the first time in this winter.

Details available with the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that most of the places in Kashmir recorded sub zero temperature in the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday while Pahalgam was the coldest place, where the mercury settled at minus 4.8 degrees Celsius.

The mercury in Kupwara settled at minus 2.9 degrees Celsius while in Qazigund, it was recorded at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius. The world famous ski-resort of Kashmir, Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius.
